Arup Gangopadhyay
Arup is currently the chair of Udayan’s Board of Trustees and serving in this capacity for the second time. Arup has been associated with Bichitra Inc./Udayan since the early 1990s and has held several positions including President, Vice-President, and Secretary. On the professional side, he worked in Ford Research for thirty years before retiring three years ago. He lives with his wife Gopa in Novi. |
Subimal Dinda
Subimal, one of the original founders of Bichitra in 1974, has been actively involved with this community over the last 50 years, serving in all capacities of the organization. Retiring from Chrysler after 35 years, he joined Oakland University in Mechanical Engineering as an adjunct professor and taught there for 10 years. He has been also consulting on automotive materials & manufacturing after his retirement. He and his wife, Alaka (Dulu), spend the winter months in California close to their daughters and grandchildren.
Sankha Das
Sankha began his journey with Bichitra Inc./Udayan 25 years ago. Along with his wife Anindita and son Vir, as a family they have been involved in the various activities that are part of the organization, whether in a formal capacity or otherwise. Currently, Sankha serves on the Board of Trustees. He enjoys playing various percussive instruments, traveling and following & watching (a lot) of F1.
Karishma Guha
Karishma has been a member of the Bichitra Inc./Udayan community since her arrival to the US in 1981. She later served on the Bichitra Inc Executive Committee in 2023. Karishma is employed as a Nurse Practitioner at Henry Ford Health System and lives in West Bloomfield with her husband, Barry, and daughter, Rekha. Outside her work commitments, Karishma coaches her daughter’s middle school robotics team, and is involved with animal welfare and political activism.

Anirvan Coomer
President
Anirvan, along with his wife Debarati, joined the Bichitra Inc./Udayan community in 2007 when they came to the US for the first time. Following several work-related international moves, they returned to Michigan in 2018 and became part of the Udayan family once more. Anirvan has been with General Motors since 2003, and enjoys travel, photography, gardening and DIY projects in his leisure time.
Mahesh Bhattacharyya
Vice President & Head of Operations
Mahesh, along with his wife Rita, have been part of the Bichitra Inc./Udayan community since 1989, and their children Sneha and Neel were active in Bichitra Inc. during their growing years. Mahesh and Rita currently live in Novi, MI, while Sneha and Neel are now married and live in Chicago and Atlanta respectively. Mahesh has been with Ford Motor Company since 1989. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his grandson Milan, his family, travelling, golf, hiking and adda with his friends.
Shashank Joshi
Treasurer & Head of Finance
Shashank has been an active member of the Bichitra Inc/Udayan community for the past 25 years socializing with the community and enjoying the cultural festivities. Shashank resides in West Bloomfield with his wife, Sharbari. Their daughter, Reejuta, lives in New York, and their son, Aurko, resides in San Francisco. In his personal time, Shashank enjoys photography, music, bicycling, DIY projects, and learning to golf.
Debarati Coomer
Secretary & Head of Communications
Debarati, along with her husband Anirvan, joined the Bichitra Inc./Udayan community in 2007. A “pukka ginni“ and mother of two college-going sons Aditya & Aarya, Debarati lived in 5 different countries before settling in Birmingham, MI which she calls home. She has a passion for music and art and loves to sing and play the guitar, keyboard and harmonium. Debarati also enjoys cooking and believes that the easiest way to everyone’s heart (including her fur baby) is through good food.
Anindita Talapatra
Head of Programming
Anindita (Pali) has been part of Bichitra Inc./Udayan community since 1998, and has actively served in various Executive Committee roles over the years. She lives in Novi, MI, with her husband Debasish. Their daughter Misha now lives in Chicago with her husband and their adorable corgi, and remains closely connected to the Bichitra Inc./Udayan family she grew up with. Anindita is a HR professional who loves traveling, watching movies, taking part in cultural activities, and exploring diverse cuisines.
Debashish Bhattacharya
Head of Fundraising
Debashish has been with Bichitra Inc since 2001 and served as President during 2016-2018. He is semi-retired now and works at Royal Oak Surgery center as a pediatric anesthesiologist. Debashish lives in Commerce Township along with his wife Veena and their elder son Shantanu, while their younger son Madhur lives in Austin. Debashish is a huge cricket fan and an accomplished tabla player, and his other hobbies include tennis, travel, and music.
